DESCRIPTION :

After the conquest, architects were imported from Turkey to supplement local construction in an Ottoman idiom. In particular the domed mosque of the Ottoman Empire was a distinctive architectural type. In Cyprus, there are several examples of the simple classical style, with a single dome above a square structure. The best known is the Arabahmet mosque. There are others of this type, like the Haçi Ömer mosque at Lapithos / Lapta.
